CF Montreal beats Charlotte 2-1 after Clark, Duke score within 3 minutes

Montreal ends four-game losing streak

Caden Clark and Bryce Duke scored three minutes apart in the second half to give the Montreal Impact a 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC on Saturday night.

The Impact (10-15-8) ended a four-game losing streak and moved into eighth place in the Eastern Conference, one point behind seventh-place Atlanta United.

Charlotte (10-18-5) lost its fourth straight game and remained in 12th place in the East.

Clark opens the scoring

Clark opened the scoring in the 57th minute when he took a pass from Djordje Mihailovic and fired a shot from outside the box that deflected off Charlotte defender Jan Soboci 4;ski and past goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina.

It was Clark's fifth goal of the season.

Duke doubles the lead

Duke made it 2-0 in the 60th minute when he headed home a cross from Mihailovic.

It was Duke's fourth goal of the season.

Charlotte pulls one back

Charlotte pulled one back in the 75th minute when Karol Swiderski scored his 10th goal of the season.

But it wasn't enough to prevent Montreal from securing the victory.

Impact goalkeeper makes key saves

Montreal goalkeeper James Pantemis made four saves, including a big stop on a shot by Swiderski in the 89th minute.

Kahlina made two saves for Charlotte.
